Stephen Báthory (1533–1586) was King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, renowned for his military leadership and administrative reforms. Elected in 1576, he strengthened the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and led successful campaigns against Ivan the Terrible’s forces during the Livonian War.
